GYTO Thursday Notebook Double

The complexion of this race has changed hugely since I first started looking at it with key players Unquestionable and now Jasour both out due to the ground. I respect Sketch but I think it might be hard to make all and that could leave the door open for VANDEEK. This colt made quite a taking start winning on debut at Nottingham despite having somewhat fallen out the stalls.

He travelled up strongly and was nicely in control at the finish. He is obviously open to improvement and while this is tougher he could be a nice prospect in the making. I do still think Sketch is the danger but Bobsleigh would have an each way chance as he didn’t shape badly behind Relief Rally at Newbury and still has potential after just the four starts.

Back up to a mile I’m expecting METABOLT to be really tough to beat here. He got the decision in the stewards room on reappearance at Haydock and then impressed with how well he stayed on to beat a good yardstick in Two Tempting at Windsor back in June. The drop back to 7f under patient tactics went against him at Haydock last time but it was still a good run in defeat and he still has more to come off his current handicap mark.

He remains unexposed in the main having only raced a handful of times in a handicap and looks the way to go. No More Porter ran a cracker here on Tuesday and if turned out quickly would have to be feared again. Gambe Veloci was never put in the race here on Tuesday and the step back up in trip will help so he is also expected to get competitive.
