You can now send a Hallmark greeting card that includes money via Venmo

Have you ever been concerned when sending a monetary gift via cash or a check in a greeting card?

Of course you have - the risk is real.

Hallmark and Venmo, a digital wallet, have created a way to keep your gift secure.

The first-of-its-kind collaboration, called Hallmark + Venmo Cards, was launched today.

Customers can securely send money, accessible via a QR code, in a physical Hallmark greeting card.

“Our new collaboration with Venmo represents an innovative new way to let someone know you’re thinking of them with simple, secure and seamless cash gifting,” said Darren Abbott, Hallmark’s Senior Vice President of Global Product Development and Innovation.

“Gifting trends are constantly evolving, and we want to stay at the forefront of what consumers need to share thoughtful and unique gifts with the ones they love.”

The gift giver can select a card from a new line available for birthdays, weddings, holidays and more, then scan a unique QR code and choose the amount to give. When the recipient receives the card, the QR code can be scanned to access the money that is deposited in their own Venmo account.

Hallmark said only the intended recipient will be able to access the money.

The cards sell for $4.99 and are available online at Hallmark, in Hallmark Gold Crown stores and some retailers nationwide.
